The second post for my 100 things challenge is dedicated to Elizabeth Bennet from Pride and Prejudice.

"There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me." - Elizabeth Bennet

In 1995, I was fairly obsessed with The X-Files, and I tried to convince my parents to watch some episodes. They stuck a deal with me; if I agreed to watch the 1995 BBC adaption of Pride and Prejudice with them, they agreed to watch a few episodes of The X-Files.

At the time, I remember thinking that it was an unfair deal; in my 15 year old mind, I had to watch some "boring historical" thing, and they got to watch one of the best shows ever created. But I keep my promises, so I watched their "stupid show". I loved it. I absolutely loved it. And Elizabeth Bennet became one of my favourite characters.

I love that she so intelligent, witty, and courageous. She was born in a time when women were expected to act a certain why, but - when she thought it was appropriate - she was happy to ignore those expectations. I love that she would often openly speak her own mind, and was only interested in marrying for love.

I think she's an absolutely amazing character, and a fantastic role model. Jennifer Ehle as Lizzy.Collapse )

Here is the first post for my 100 things challenge. Of course, I had to start a list of my 100 favourite characters with a post about Rodney McKay.

"I'm Dr. Rodney McKay, alright? Difficult takes a few seconds; impossible, a few minutes." - Dr. Rodney McKay

Rodney McKay, how are you so awesome? I'm sure that most of you know that I didn't always love Rodney. When I first saw him in SG1, I thought he was an annoying jerk, and I was initially hesistant to watch SGA, because I knew his character was part of it.

I'm very happy to admit that I was completely wrong, and by the end of the third episode of SGA, I'd fallen hopelessly in love with Rodney McKay. I love the layers to his personality; he's petty, arrogant, and bad with people, but he's also heroic, caring and vulnerable. I also find him incredibly attractive; I love his broad shoulders, his crooked grin, his expressive eyes and his lovely eye lashes.

I could write a thesis describing my love for Rodney, but if I do that, I'll never get through my 100 things, so I'm going to try to keep these fairly short, and let a few pictures talk for themselves. Photographic evidenceCollapse )

I'm still terrible at updating here. But I want to. I really, really want to. So I've decided to do jdbracknell's "100 things" challenge. And I'm going to post about my 100 favourite characters. Does anyone want to join me? All you have to do is post 100 times about any topic of your choice. There's no word or time limit. But I hope it'll help me to get back into the LJ-habit. :)

{Take the 100 Things challenge!}

I am on a SERIOUS Hawaii Five-0 kick at the moment. I just have SO. MUCH. LOVE. It's weird - I watched the first season back last year, and I enjoyed it, but I didn't LOVE it with my whole being. But just last week, I re-watched some of the last half of season 1, and then started watching season 2. I'm currently up to 2x11, and I can't express how much I adore the show now (2x10 was one of the best episodes of any TV show I've seen in ages).

I just love everyone and everything. I really can't make my thoughts coherent (it's mostly just exclamation marks and high pitched noises!), so instead, I'll post some screencaps. BECAUSE... LOVE!

Screencaps, of the Steve and Danny varietyCollapse )

*happy sigh* Please feel free to spam me with more pics. I need lots of Hawaii Five-0 everything in my life right now. I've also just started reading fic, so if you have any favourites, please let me know. :)

Some of my flist have been having a tough time lately, so I think it's time for some pictures of some pretty, pretty men. How about the A to Z of hotness? Here are some teasers, and the rest are under the cut.

By the way, this post contains naked butt, so NSFW. :) (Also, you can click the pics for larger versions)

A is for Jensen Ackles...Collapse )

Apologies for all of the hotness that I had to leave out. There are too many hot guys, and not enough letters in the alphabet. But please feel free to post alternatives if you think I chose poorly!

I'm currently writing a post with an A to Z of hot guys picspam. I was looking through my photos of Joe Flanigan, and re-discovered this piece of gold:

Eventually I dragged my eyes away from his gorgeous face (I love those glasses on him!), then eventually dragged my eyes away from the open shirt buttons and chest hair, then eventually I noticed the book he's holding. It's Deep Survival by Laurence Gonzales. I have that book! I love that book! Joe has good taste.

In my defence, I'm pretty sure someone has messed with the space-time continuum or something, and has sped up time. Or maybe I'm just very, very slack...

For one of the current challenges at stargateland, we have to create a manifesto for our favourite Stargate pairing. I, of course, chose McKay and Sheppard. It's possible that I got a little carried away. This post is long. And heavy on pictures.

I'm currently copying approximately 7GB* of Stargate Atlantis related pictures that I had stored on an old external drive onto my main drive. Watch out, photoshop! I'll be visiting you again soon, with pretty pictures of pretty people!

* 7GB seems excessive, right?! In my defence, that includes candid shots and pictures of Hewlett and Flanigan in their non-SGA roles.
